Exciting Leadership Opportunity in Healthcare IT Transformation

A leading NYC-area hospital network and healthcare system is seeking a visionary AVP, Head of Agile Portfolio Management & IT Strategy to spearhead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and drive Agile transformation across the organization. This newly created role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare delivery through innovation, agility, and measurable impact.

Position is based in the New York area and can be fully remote with the requirement to come on site 4-6 times year.

RESPONSIBLITIES

As the AVP, you’ll be at the forefront of aligning IT strategy with business priorities, championing Agile methodologies, and delivering real value across the enterprise. Key areas of impact include:

  • Strategic Alignment & Value Realization
  • Define and implement frameworks that ensure IT investments deliver tangible business outcomes.
  • Agile Portfolio Transformation
  • Lead the evolution from traditional PMO to Agile Portfolio Management. Build governance models that foster transparency, agility, and continuous improvement.
  • Agile Center of Excellence (ACoE)
  • Drive enterprise-wide adoption of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban), embedding Agile principles across IT and business units.
  • Value Delivery Office Leadership
  • Ensure Agile-aligned execution and governance, shifting from legacy project management to value-driven delivery.
  • ITSM & DevOps Integration
  • Modernize ITSM practices to support Agile and DevOps environments using ITIL best practices and iterative, user-centric design.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and other business units to align operational processes with Agile principles.
  • Executive Engagement
  • Communicate transformation progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership, fostering alignment and momentum.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s in IT, Business Administration, or related field (MBA/MS preferred)
  • 10+ years in IT strategy, Agile program management, or enterprise transformation—ideally in healthcare
  • Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe Program Consultant, Certified Scrum Professional, PMI-ACP)
  • Proven success leading Agile transformations in regulated environments
  • Expertise in Organizational Change Management and Agile value realization
  • Proficiency in Jira, ServiceNow, Power BI, and Agile planning tools
  • Strong communicator and collaborator with executive presence
