A leading AI infrastructure company is seeking its first marketing hire to shape messaging and content strategy. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in content creation and strategy, driving product marketing from 0 to 1. You'll collaborate with various teams to optimize public perception and enhance customer engagement across diverse channels.
Modal is building the serverless compute platform to support the next generation of AI companies. In order to deliver the developer experience we wanted, we went deep and built our own infrastructure—including our own custom file system, container runtime, scheduler, container image builder, and much more.
We're a small team based out of New York, Stockholm and San Francisco. In just one year, we've reached 8-figure revenue, tripled our headcount, scaled to support thousands of GPUs, and raised over $32M in funding.
Working at Modal means joining one of the fastest-growing AI infrastructure organizations at an early stage, with many opportunities to grow within the company. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g. Seaborn, Luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.
We’re looking to bring on our first marketing hire to help us shape Modal’s messaging, positioning, and content strategy. This person will take our product marketing from 0 to 1, establishing Modal as the market leader for high-performance AI infrastructure and driving awareness, engagement, and retention in our product. In this role, you will:
Own and refine the core messaging pillars of the product and evangelize them externally and internally
Set our overarching content strategy and ship creative, differentiated content on a consistent cadence to cement our domain authority
Treat our website as a living product and deliver constant improvements to structure, tone, and copy
Identify & prioritize key customer segments in the AI market, refreshing them over time as needed
Stay on top of AI market trends and competitor products to keep our positioning relevant
Optimize distribution across key channels (i.e. Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, Hacker News) and create systems to repurpose content and track performance
Identify and manage contractors or agencies to amplify content creation where needed (e.g. video production, specialized content)
Partner closely with engineering to successfully launch and distribute new products
Partner closely with sales to produce effective sales enablement assets for enterprise buyers
Partner closely with developer relations to learn from our user base and iterate on how we communicate our technical value props
Partner closely with design to reinforce our strong developer brand through all marketing assets
Strong background in content creation and strategy
Experience executing substantial marketing initiatives from 0 to 1
Excellent writing and communication skills
Tech fluency (you don’t need to be an engineer, but you should feel comfortable discussing technical concepts such as container technology, ML performance, AI trends, etc)
Ability to ship fast and leverage new AI marketing tools
Ability to work in-person in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
