Head of Product Development and Commercialization (Supplements)
We are looking for a dynamic and well‑rounded Head of Commercialization to lead the development and launch of new supplement products, with an initial focus on Probiotics, Enzymes, and Fiber. This role requires someone who can confidently speak both the science and marketing languages and ensure product launches are scientifically sound and commercially successful.
This individual will serve as the single point of accountability for taking products from concept to shelf, collaborating across R&D, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure product‑market fit, cost efficiency, and strong go‑to‑market execution.
What You’ll Do
Scientific Strategy & Claims Development
- Work closely with internal scientists, regulatory experts, and clinical consultants to ensure claims are credible, compliant, and compelling.
- Translate scientific outcomes into consumer‑friendly benefits and messaging frameworks.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers in the industry.
Go-to-Market Leadership
- Develop and lead the end‑to‑end commercialization strategy: from early‑stage concept validation through launch and post‑launch analysis.
- Define key "reasons to believe" and positioning strategies that anchor the product in science while resonating with the consumer.
- Act as the liaison to marketing, ensuring accurate scientific storytelling, alignment on claims, and impactful execution across campaigns.
Operational Execution & Cost Strategy
- Partner with Contract Manufacturers (CMOs) to manage product costing, timelines, and scale‑up planning.
- Build launch timelines with clear checkpoints across regulatory, procurement, and marketing.
Cross‑Functional Influence
- Communicate seamlessly between technical and commercial teams, acting as a trusted voice on both sides.
- Drive accountability and clarity across stakeholders to maintain momentum and eliminate ambiguity.
- Represent the commercialization function at the leadership level with direct reporting to the COO.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required, MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in supplement, food, or wellness product development with exposure to both science and commercial functions.
- Deep understanding of probiotics, enzymes, and fiber preferred.
- Proven experience owning the full commercialization lifecycle—from concept through launch.
- Comfortable operating with equal fluency in scientific literature, cost modeling, and GTM storytelling.
- Strong communicator who can build trust and clarity across senior leadership, marketers, and scientists alike.
- Has a passion for details and enjoys diving into the weeds while also seeing the big picture to ensure product launches are commercially successful.
- Experience working with CMOs and managing supply chain negotiations.
