Your new role

The Head of Pre-Sales Support for the government, funder, non-profit (GFN) market and Solutions Architects is responsible for overseeing a team of Solutions Specialists who will support the GFN market and Architects who may support multiple markets, ensuring that pre-sale client engagements are managed effectively. This role involves leadership, strategic planning, and operational management to support pre-sales activities.

The Head of Pre-Sales Support for GFN and Architects across segments ensures that the team’s activities are cohesive, efficient, and focused on supporting sales quotas and ensuring customer agreements are set up for successful delivery and high customer satisfaction. They also play a key role in developing best practices, managing resources, and fostering professional growth within the team.

What you’ll be doing
  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Solutions Specialists and/or Architects, providing guidance, setting objectives, and supporting their professional growth.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies for the Solutions team that align with overall business objectives, ensuring effective execution of pre-sales and post-sales activities.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage team resources and workload distribution to optimize performance and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of solutions.
  • Client Engagement Oversight: Oversee client engagements to ensure that Solutions Architects and Analysts are effectively addressing client needs, delivering value, and achieving high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Solutions team’s operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including Sales, Delivery, and Technical Services, to ensure alignment and smooth coordination throughout the client engagement lifecycle.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the performance of team members, providing feedback and support to drive continuous improvement and achieve team goals.
  • Strategic Escalations: Handle escalations and complex client issues that require a higher level of expertise or strategic oversight, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining client trust.

What you’ll bring to the role
  • You will have 10+ years of professional experience addressing customer needs with technology, SaaS, or digital product solutions and be able to showcase your experience and achievements
  • You will have previous experience of working globally and across multiple teams
  • You will bring with you an understanding of the Science & Technology ecosystem (funders, research organizations, scientific publishing, medical affairs, universities, etc) including an understanding of scientific research funding, publishing, and communication of results
  • You will be comfortable working independently and remotely, and in a fast-paced highly collaborative team environment
  • You will have the ability to translate customer requirements into actionable solutions
  • You’ll be an expert in research data (publications, grants, patents) including common matters such as author and institutional disambiguation, classification, linkages, indexing
  • You will have experience of designing and presenting demonstrations of online tools including workshop-style sessions
  • You will be a strong communicator and able to communicate potential solutions to a varied audience through written and verbal presentation
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining customer relationships in a collaborative multi-organization work environment
