Job summary

Fionics is seeking a Head of Platform Engineering in New York to own the engineering function from architecture to delivery. You will set the technical direction, modernise the stack, and lead a growing team while staying hands-on in production code.

You will bring deep HFT experience, a strong background in low-latency C++, and a proven ability to own systems end-to-end, collaborating with traders and the founder on firm priorities. Relocation to NYC or local candidates encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Experience in high-frequency trading or top-tier trading firms.
  • Hands-on coding with low-latency systems and performance-aware design.
  • Proven track record owning large-scale systems end-to-end.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the architecture and technical direction of trading platforms.
  • Modernise a low-latency C++ codebase and systems stack.
  • Grow and mentor the engineering team and stay hands-on with code.
  • Collaborate closely with traders and leadership on priorities.

Head of Platform Engineering — High-Frequency Trading

New York, NY

A New York HFT that has been consistently profitable for over a decade and doubled its PnL last year. Small, well‑capitalised and deliberately low‑profile, they're looking for one person to own their engineering function end to end.

This is a rare ownership seat. You'll set the technical direction, modernise the stack, grow & lead the team, and stay hands‑on in the code.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own the architecture and technical direction of the trading systems
  • Modernise and evolve an established low-latency C++ codebase
  • Lead and mentor the engineering team
  • Stay hands‑on — design and write production code, not just manage
  • Work directly with traders and the founder on firm priorities
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • A strong engineering background from another HFT or top-tier trading firm
  • Deep, hands‑on expertise in low-latency systems (C++)
  • A track record of owning systems end to end, ideally somewhere you've seen the whole picture rather than one narrow lane
  • The judgement to lead and set direction while staying technical
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, New York
