Job summary

Upgrade Resources is seeking an Optical Applications Engineering Manager to lead a four-person team of Optical Engineers onsite in New Hampshire, with some remote flexibility. You will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to craft system designs, estimate costs, and resolve complex customer issues across multiple photonics applications.

The role requires deep photonics expertise, strong written and verbal communication, and a track record of technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. in a technical field from an accredited four-year college.
• Photonic or optical disciplines including radiometry, photometry, color science, imaging, sensing, or related electronics.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction and collaboration.
• Advanced technical writing ability and leadership experience in photonics environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of four Optical Engineers (onsite and remote).
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to design systems with cost estimates.
• Troubleshoot advanced customer issues across applications.
• Develop market knowledge of LED performance and applications.
• Support marketing and sales with technical interaction and trainings.
• Plan and develop advanced training and support tools.
• Present training seminars and participate in trade shows and conferences.
• Maintain cross-department relationships to drive R&D for specialized products.
