Job Summary
The Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Operations to lead the Research and Engineering to Accelerate DiscoverY (READY) Center team. In this pivotal role, you will manage the READY Center's daily operations while driving strategic planning, solution development, and implementation across a broad spectrum of challenges. You will also build and nurture a high-performing operations team to achieve the organization's ambitious goals. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in strategic planning, budget and resource management, and team leadership within high-throughput environments.
- NOTE: This is a 1-year 100% Full-time Contract role.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $166,900 (Annual Rate).

About The Existing QBI Team
The QBI team responsibilities range from running the operations of the institute to managing specific science projects and programs. We have people who focus on advocacy, industry relations, international collaborations and the coordination of matching different labs with financial opportunities to work together.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in a related area (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading teams and implementing operational strategy in a clinical or research setting.
- Highly skilled fundraising experience.
- Academic background and experience in selected area of research.
- Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
- Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.
- Advanced ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
