Job summary

Certain Advantage in the Southwest is seeking a Head of Mechanical Systems for UK Defence. This permanent, hybrid-based role leads a small, experienced team and drives engineering delivery across the full project lifecycle.

You will review technical documentation, oversee governance and assurance, and guide asset lifecycle activities in a safety-critical, regulated environment. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or relevant technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in highly regulated or safety-critical industries.
• Leading engineering teams or coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.
• Delivering engineering solutions across the full asset lifecycle including design, modification, maintenance, and operational support.
• Understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance, and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering delivery across the full project lifecycle including concept development, design, implementation, commissioning, and operational support.
• Review and approve technical documentation.
• Support configuration management activities.
• Provide technical oversight to facility modifications, infrastructure upgrades, and asset lifecycle management activities.
• Support planning, risk management, and progress reporting activities associated with engineering delivery.
• Support installation, commissioning, and testing activities where required to ensure engineering solutions are successfully implemented.
