Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb Company is building out RayzeBio's IP function and seeks an experienced IP attorney to lead IP strategy and operations for RayzeBio's radiopharmaceutical portfolio. This role reports to the BMS Law Department and aims to scale the IP function, including leading team members.

The candidate will own global IP strategy, manage high-stakes patent matters, and partner with R&D, regulatory, and business teams, with leadership responsibilities as the function grows.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of patent prosecution and IP strategy experience, with substantial focus on small molecule, radiopharmaceutical, and/or peptide chemistry.
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• J.D. degree or equivalent and admission to practice law in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia; California admission preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences (or equivalent); advanced degree and/or radiopharmaceutical/peptide chemistry preferred.
• Mentoring and managing patent attorneys/agents; readiness to lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive global IP strategy for RayzeBio's radiopharmaceutical pipeline, partnering with R&D, regulatory, BD, and commercial teams.
• Lead IP due diligence for M&A, licensing, and collaboration activities; evaluate partner portfolios and advise on risk.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP provisions for complex licenses, R&D/collaboration agreements, and other high-value agreements.
• Manage outside patent counsel globally to ensure high-quality services within budget.
• Monitor IP laws and regulations relevant to radiopharmaceuticals and small molecules; advise leadership on implications.
