Job summary

Grocery Outlet is seeking a hands-on VP of Merchandising (Fresh) to lead Fresh Produce and Fresh Meat, responsible for strategy, sales, margin, sourcing and team development with over $1.1B in annual sales. You will shape long-term strategy while staying close to commodity markets and supplier relationships, reporting to the Chief Purchasing & Merchandising Officer.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of merchandising, buying or category management experience in grocery or related retail.
• Experience at VP level or leading a large merchandising organization.
• Strong knowledge of Fresh produce and meat, supplier economics and inventory dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy and financial performance for Fresh Produce and Fresh Meat, with $1.1B+ annual sales.
• Lead a team of ~15 merchants and cross-functional partners.
• Drive category priorities, pricing, promotions, sourcing and assortment decisions.
• Partner with Supply Chain and Store Operations to optimize distribution and inventory.
• Develop and mentor future merchandising leaders and build a high-performing team.
