Job summary

Walhampton School invites applications for a Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead and develop the teaching of French from Pre-Prep through Year 8. The role requires strong subject knowledge, leadership, and a passion for languages, with responsibilities including curriculum development and scholarship preparation.

The successful candidate will inspire students, oversee EAL provision, and contribute to wider school life. QTS or equivalent is preferred, with leadership experience advantageous.

• Degree in French or closely related subject.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the teaching of French across Pre-Prep to Year 8.
• Deliver engaging French lessons that meet all abilities and stretch learners.
• Lead, motivate and support departmental colleagues and promote best practice.
• Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform teaching.
• Prepare pupils for senior school entrance and scholarship assessments.
• Oversee EAL provision and language activities including cultural visits.
