Job summary

Chalk is building a data platform for ML applications and seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Engineering Leader to head the FDE team across New York and San Francisco. You will own the technical engagement with customers, drive pilots, onboarding, and expansion, and partner with Sales, GTM, and Engineering to shape the product roadmap.

You will hire, mentor, and lead engineers, define career paths, and create scalable playbooks.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years leading customer-facing teams.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with deep systems knowledge.
• Experience in pre-sales and post-sales enterprise motions.
• Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent.
• Executive-level communication with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and retain Chalk's FDE team across NY and SF.
• Define strategy and operating model for the FDE function, including engagement models, account coverage, and expansion.
• Own onboarding playbooks, support triage, escalations, and rollout processes for customer environments.
• Partner with Sales and GTM leadership on technical pilots and evaluations of key deals.
• Collaborate with Engineering to translate customer learnings into the product roadmap.
• Stay hands-on by reviewing customer architectures and solving high-impact technical problems.
• Serve as an executive-level technical counterpart to customer leadership at largest accounts.
• Define career paths and growth trajectories for FDEs and scale the function as Chalk grows.
