General Galactic, based in Los Angeles, seeks a Director of Software to architect and own the software stack for spacecraft and missions. You will define the architecture, development roadmap, verification approach, and flight software integration, working closely with founders and the technical team.

Lead embedded software for real-time space systems, guide a growing team, implement test infrastructure, and establish development processes for a fast-moving aerospace startup.

Qualifications

• BS in computer or electrical engineering or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years developing software for hardware-integrated systems.
• Experience leading software architecture for complex flight software.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python, and embedded toolchains.
• Experience with safety standards and formal certification processes.
• Startup environment experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Own the software architecture for General Galactic vehicles and missions.
• Define development roadmap, verification strategy, and flight software integration.
• Lead real-time embedded software design, testing, and deployment.
• Mentor and expand the software engineering team.
• Develop and integrate test infrastructure including HIL/HIT and simulations.
• Establish lightweight software processes and documentation practices.
