Job summary

Alaska X in Skagway, AK is seeking a focused Maintenance Director to lead a hands-on team of mechanics, carpenters, and laborers year-round. The role covers the maintenance and repair of over 100 pieces of equipment and facilities, ensuring reliability and uptime for vessels and terrain machinery.

You will oversee scheduling, training, and safety, while directly engaging with mechanical and carpentry tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven experience as a mechanic and carpenter required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs (Required).
• Legally eligible to work in the US (Required).
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain (Required).

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff including mechanics, carpenters, and laborers.
• Delegate work assignments and monitor performance and productivity.
• Conduct staff training and development.
• Maintain logs of maintenance work and issues.
• Report on equipment status and maintenance concerns.
• Inspect machinery, components, and systems; perform repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Read blueprints and specifications to guide projects.
• Oversee safety compliance and coordinate with other departments.
