Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Director of Commissioning to own the build-out of centralized commissioning for the GeoBlocks fleet. You will lead end-to-end commissioning, transfer custody from construction to operations, and design the org and playbooks to scale with the fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering; or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years in commissioning/startup of complex industrial or power facilities with leadership experience.
• Owns construction-to-operations transfer including turnover docs and readiness sign-off.
• Deep knowledge of process safety management and permit-to-work frameworks.
• Experience building or restructuring a commissioning function for multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end commissioning execution for Cape Station and future GeoBlock units, including turnover and readiness.
• Manage formal custody transfer from construction to operations with sign-off gates and records.
• Resolve live commissioning issues related to piping, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Ensure auditable handover packages with data, punchlist owners, and sign-offs.
• Design in-house commissioning strategy, org structure, and standardized playbooks.
• Stand up CMS and reporting cadence to track status across projects.
• Provide technical authority across disciplines during commissioning and validate test results.
• Develop training and knowledge transfer to scale commissioning fleet-wide.
• Manage relationships with OEMs, EPC teams, vendors, and leadership.
