Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Director of Commissioning to own the build-out of a centralized, in-house commissioning organization for the GeoBlocks fleet. You will lead end-to-end commissioning across multiple sites, drive custody transfer from construction to operations, and scale processes and systems for faster, safer turnover.

The role reports to the VP of Operations and collaborates with Production Engineering, Operations Engineering, O&M, and HSSE leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering discipline.
• 15+ years in commissioning and startup of complex industrial or power facilities, with leadership of teams at scale.
• Ownership of construction-to-operations transfer of custody, including turnover docs and sign-off.
• Deep knowledge of process safety management, management of change, and permit-to-work frameworks in commissioning.
• Experience building or restructuring a commissioning function with process, systems, and technical authority.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end commissioning execution for Cape Station and subsequent GeoBlock units, including turnover and readiness.
• Drive the formal transfer of custody from construction to operations with sign-off gates and documentation.
• Resolve live commissioning-critical issues (piping, purge programs, fluid-fill prerequisites).
• Ensure handover packages are complete with data, punchlists, and sign-offs.
