Job summary

Trove, a collectibles startup based in NYC, is seeking a Head of Finance to build the function from scratch and guide rapid growth while staying profitable.

You’ll act as a strategic partner, creating guardrails, scalable processes, and a single source of truth for the core financial stack. Expect rolling forecasts, monthly profit reviews, and metrics that inform where to invest next as the team scales.

Qualifications

• Owned FP&A for at least 7 years.
• Worked in e-commerce or gaming with digital or physical inventory.
• Been the first finance hire, building vs inheriting the function.
• Successfully transformed the finance function via the implementation of AI tools.

Responsibilities

Trove is a collectibles startup that quickly reached profitability with a small team of talented, dedicated people. What got us here won’t take us where we need to go, and we’re looking for a Head of Finance to help guide the business and support our fast pace of growth.

The current state

We’re an early stage B2C business, backed by top tier VCs, athletes, and celebrities, built by founders who have scaled and exited multiple startups. We are a gamified e-commerce platform for cards & collectibles that offers digitized access to physical inventory. We have grown significantly faster than expected and are profitable. This will be our first full time finance hire and you’ll build as a team of one, for now. Our tech stack includes Brex, Metabase, and Digits. We have about 10 full time employees and a number of contractors spread out across the US, Canada, Europe, and South America.

The opportunity

You're the first person to own this function so it’s a real opportunity to build from scratch and put your imprint on the business. You’re not inheriting someone else’s systems or playbook. You’ll operate as a strategic partner, helping us responsibly unlock resources to meet aggressive goals. The job is to build the guardrails that let the business move fast and stay profitable, not to be the person everyone has to convince. We want someone who thinks creatively, moves quickly, and knows how to start simple and scale.

What success looks like

Once you’re ramped, we’ll have a single source of truth for our core financial stack. This might start in Excel but you’ll quickly evolve it into something that scales. You’ll uncover insights that help us scale. We’ll have rolling forecasts and reviews around monthly profit, supporting real conversations about where to invest next. The team will know where the business stands at all times and what our key metrics should be. All of this work helps us move quickly, stay aligned on what’s important or possible, and continue to raise the bar across the entire company.
