Job description

We’re partnering with a profitable, high growth marketing technology company that is looking for a commercially minded CFO to help guide the business through its next stage of growth.

The company is institutionally backed and scaling toward approximately $100M in annual revenue. This is a confidential search for a financial leader who can bring rigor to the business, drive accountability across departments, and ensure the company remains prepared for continued growth, M&A, financing, or a future transaction.

The Role

You will be the financial leader of the company, serving as the trusted #3 alongside the CEO. This is a high-octane role for an operational powerhouse. We seek an agentic operator who doesn't just manage dashboards, but proactively commands the numbers, drives team accountability, and acts as a strategic counterweight to our Go To Market functions. You will lead a lean finance function.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the business, end to end. See everything through to completion. One of our core values is ownership: no half-finished models, no “waiting on data,” and no hand-holding. You take critical responsibilities completely off the CEO’s plates, and you keep them off.
  • Run us sale ready. Whether we exit in 12 months or 12 years, you will maintain a perennially sale‑ready posture. You will own board preparation, lender reporting, and the financial data room. If a buyer comes to the table, you are the face to the market, keeping the data tight, the model defensible, and staying two steps ahead of every due diligence question.
  • Enforce KPIs and cross‑functional accountability. Deeply understand the core drivers of our business. You will partner with and hold department heads accountable to their KPIs, proactively flagging and addressing operational trends with the team long before they turn into problems.
  • Build an AI‑native finance stack. Our ultimate metric of success is operational leverage. You will relentlessly leverage AI and automation to build a highly scalable finance infrastructure. To support you, we will gladly fund forward‑deployed engineers. Your success is measured by the human headcount you don’t have to hire.
  • Move at growth speed. Be comfortable making decisions and iterating with 80% of the information so you never become a corporate bottleneck. You know how to execute a lightning‑fast turnaround on the 20% of initiatives that move 80% of the business, while letting the rest be.
  • Communication and command presence. Bring a high motor and undeniable executive presence to every room. You can successfully negotiate complex vendor contracts, command the respect of a sales team during comp rollouts, and confidently win over risk‑averse institutional investors.
What We’re Looking For
  • The Trajectory: Finance leadership, likely a VP of Finance ready for the step up, inside a company with institutional backing scaling at or through roughly $100M in revenue.
  • The GTM DNA: You live in the operational drivers of the business, not just the historical ledger. Ideally, you have owned or deeply influenced revenue functions in the past and understand the direct mechanics of customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value, as well as sales incentives and compensation plans. FP&A > Accounting.
  • The A-Player Tells: A track record of getting more done in less time, making high‑stakes decisions without asking for permission, and holding a higher bar for yourself than anyone else ever could.
  • The Proactive Partner: An executive who preps the CEO with exactly what they need to know before they ever have to ask for it.
  • The Modern AI Workplace Fit: Fluent in modern, asynchronous remote team workflows such as Slack, Google Meet, and Notion. We’re not looking for someone who has simply used an AI tool with Excel. We want someone who is already using AI agents and automation to improve finance workflows, identify issues, and proactively drive action across the organization.
  • Competitive base salary plus variable compensation
  • Meaningful equity opportunity
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Remote work environment
  • Significant autonomy and direct partnership with the CEO
