Cubiq is seeking a Head of Deployment Engineering to lead the forward deployed engineering function in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a hybrid work model. You will own deployments of proprietary AI models into partner environments, scale production systems, and build the deployment team and playbook from the ground up.

You’ll serve as the senior technical lead for strategic customer relationships, guiding field learnings back to research and product teams.

Head of Deployment Engineering | AI Drug Discovery | San Francisco (Hybrid)

Cubiq is partnering exclusively with a well-funded AI drug discovery company in San Francisco. They build their own deep learning models for therapeutic design, and those models are already in use with pharma and biotech partners.

They’re hiring a senior leader to own how those models get into partners’ hands. Your job is to make them work in the real world, at scale, and to build the team that does it.

THE ROLE

You’ll lead the company’s forward deployed engineering function. That means taking proprietary models from signed agreement to production inside partners’ environments, and being the senior technical lead on the company’s most important relationships. You’ll build the team, its processes and its partner playbook from early stage. What you learn in the field will feed directly into research and product.

This isn’t API integration or RAG work. These are large proprietary models running on GPUs, whether on-prem, in a partner’s cloud, or in third-party environments.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• You’ve led deployments of your company’s own ML models into customer environments, from contract to production, more than once
• Hands-on experience running and serving models on GPUs, and building the systems around them
• Experience as the senior technical lead with external customers, and you enjoy it
• A track record of building and leading technical teams
• A product mindset and commercial judgement
• You’re based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate, and open to occasional customer travel

EXTRA CREDIT FOR

• A background in life sciences, drug discovery or chemistry. It’s not required, because you’ll work closely with the company’s scientists.
• Experience working with pharma or biotech organisations
• Experience growing accounts alongside commercial teams
