Job summary

Buffalo Healthcare Facility seeks a Director of Maintenance to oversee the upkeep of the facility and grounds in compliance with federal, state, and local standards. You will lead maintenance staff, hire and train personnel, and manage budgets while coordinating contractors and vendors.

The role includes overseeing life-safety systems, routine inspections, and ensuring safe, compliant operations across all areas of the facility, including landscaping and utility tracking.

Qualifications

• Management and leadership capabilities for a maintenance team.
• Experience planning and controlling budgets for facilities.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations (OSHA/EPA).
• Ability to manage external contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Directs the facility maintenance staff, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing.
• Directs maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds; inspects work for conformance to standards and policies.
• Implements preventative maintenance programs and coordinates compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
• Coordinates engineering contractors and vendors, ensuring insurance and licenses are current.
• Conducts regular inspections of life safety systems (fire extinguishers, sprinklers).
• Oversees annual maintenance schedule and repairs in rooms and common areas, including refurbishment.
• Maintains exterior property upkeep, landscaping, snow removal, and garbage removal.
• Prepares and follows the approved budget; tracks utility consumption and expenses.
• Manages inventory control for supplies and equipment; maintains engineering files.
• Assesses plumbing and electrical problems and works within codes to fix them.
• Reviews SDS and takes precautions for hazardous chemicals; assesses property damage and files claims.
• Responds to resident or facility emergencies and maintains operation of offices and shops.
