Job summary

Amex GBT’s Enterprise Data Governance Office seeks aDirector to lead governance strategy and execution across travel data domains. You will own the governance program, partner with Privacy, Risk, and Legal, and drive scalable frameworks for data ownership, stewardship, and AI readiness.

The role requires 10+ years in governance with 5+ years of leadership, experience with Alation/Collibra, and strong governance policy development capabilities. Based in Chicago with enterprise scope across brands.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data governance, data management, or related fields.
• 5+ years leading teams or programs at manager/director level.
• Experience standing up and scaling enterprise governance programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive data governance roadmap with measurable outcomes.
• Build enterprise data domain model and governance bodies.
• Scale data owner and data steward roles with clear accountability.
• Define governance scope, structure, and priorities for leadership.
• Create Data Governance Policy aligned with Privacy, Records, Security, and AI governance.
• Lead data governance audit prep with Internal/External auditors.
• Establish definitions, taxonomies, and governance standards for data across systems.
• Define data contract standards to protect downstream consumers and AI use cases.
• Provide governance leadership across multi-brand/multi-platform ecosystems.
