Job summary

Paces seeks a Head of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization in Brooklyn, NY. You will shape the technical direction, own the delivery roadmap, and contribute code while mentoring a diverse team in a high-growth AI-enabled environment.

You will balance rapid iteration with quality, build inclusive culture, and drive cross-functional collaboration with product and data teams in a climate-focused, hybrid office setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software-engineering experience and 3+ years leading multi-team orgs in high-growth startups.
• Proven track record scaling engineering org from 0→1→N in data-intensive vertical AI companies.
• Strong background in full-stack development, ETL, AI and distributed systems.

Our Solution

Paces is building the development engine for renewable infrastructure and power projects. We have built Agentic AI that automates early-stage due diligence and pairs it with in-house expertise to accelerate late-stage diligence. The result: projects move from siting to construction-ready in a fraction of the time. Our platform streamlines siting, interconnection, and permitting for renewable energy and data center developers, real estate firms, EV charging companies, and more.

Paces is growing rapidly and looking for a Head of Engineering, reporting to our CTO and Co-Founder. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will lead and scale our engineering team, nurture our builder culture, impact product direction and roadmap, write code, and review PRs.

• Execution Excellence: Balance between shipping speed and product quality; define lightweight but effective processes that work for both our software and vertical AI teams.
• Team Building: Recruit, onboard and manage a diverse team of ICs and TLMs; nurture our collaborative and high-velocity engineering culture.
• Hands-On Execution: Stay at the cutting edge of AI coding; design systems, write code and review key PRs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software-engineering experience, 3+ years managing and leading multi-team orgs in high-growth startups.
• Proven record scaling engineering organization from 0 -> 1 -> N in data intensive, vertical AI companies.
• Strong, versatile technical background, experienced with full-stack dev, ETL, AI and distributed systems.
• A high degree of comfort digging into systems with deep technology stacks.
• Track record building inclusive, high-performance cultures that attract and retain top talent.
