Job summary

The Head of Education at Yale Center for British Art leads the development and execution of innovative education programs and engagement strategies to bring the YCBA collections to diverse audiences. They oversee learning initiatives across K–University levels, guide professional development, and ensure impactful in-gallery and public programs.

Reporting to senior leadership in Public Engagement, this on-site role shapes strategy, supervises staff, and manages budgets for the department.

Qualifications

Excellent leadership and management abilities demonstrated in museum or educational settings.
Strategic thinking to develop and oversee education programs and engagement strategies.
Proven ability to build relationships with university partners, communities, and diverse audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a broad range of groups inside and outside the museum.
Outstanding writing and public speaking skills, including university-level teaching.

Responsibilities

Create vision and strategy for programs that activate YCBA collections and exhibitions.
Direct development of learning approaches for formal and informal learners.
Lead professional development for teachers and docents; train Student Guides and interns.
Oversee the creation of the Active Learning Center and related outreach initiatives.
Cultivate partnerships within Yale and the broader community to broaden audiences.
