Job summary

Instructure is seeking a Director of Decision Science to build and lead a team that turns data into actionable business decisions. You will own the decision science function, hire and coach talent, and set the standards for analytical rigor across the company.

You'll work with product, engineering, marketing, finance, and executives to translate complex questions into concrete analyses, and present findings with clear recommendations for leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data science or analytics with people management.
• Track record of analytical work that changed decisions and produced measurable results.
• Master's or PhD in statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, applied mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the decision science team; hire, onboard, coach, and develop researchers and analysts.
• Set the function's strategy and roadmap; decide which problems to tackle and how success is measured.
• Partner with product, engineering, marketing, finance, and executives to turn questions into actionable analyses.
• Develop predictive, prescriptive, and causal models to inform product decisions and pricing.
• Raise the bar on how insights reach decision-makers through dashboards and written recommendations.
• Present findings to senior leaders and outline clear actions.
• Grow data literacy across the organization so teams ask better questions.
• Collaborate with data engineering to ensure data availability and tooling.
• Maintain ethical, privacy-conscious data use and compliance.
