This role blends long-term strategy with hands-on execution, guiding governance, architecture, and platform evolution while mentoring a nine‑person team across data disciplines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, data platforms, or related technical disciplines.
• 3+ years of people management, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development.
• Experience defining data architecture, platform strategy, and engineering standards.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience building production data systems with Python and modern languages.
• Expertise with modern cloud data platforms and warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).

Responsibilities

• Lead the transformation of data into a strategic product capability across the company.
• Define and drive the data vision, strategy, and roadmap for scalable platforms.
• Build and develop a high-performing data organization spanning data engineering, analytics, and data science.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to translate objectives into scalable data solutions.
• Shape technical direction of the data platform in collaboration with the Staff Data Engineer.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices across the data ecosystem.
• Drive data modeling, quality, governance, security, observability, and validation frameworks.
• Lead the design, implementation, and operation of cloud-based data infrastructure on AWS.
• Invest in data platforms, tooling, and processes to accelerate product development and insights.
