Job summary

Invenergy, LLC is seeking a Director of Data Center Design & Engineering to lead owner-side design efforts for large-scale data center projects. This role directs external AEC partners and engineers, sets Basis of Design and design criteria, and drives critical decisions across power, cooling, and lifecycle performance.

The position supports a hybrid in-office schedule in Chicago and requires deep expertise in mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring reliable, scalable, and cost-effective

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in data center design.
• Lead multidisciplinary MEP design for large, technically complex data centers.
• Experience developing, reviewing, or managing Basis of Design docs and OPRs.
• Strong knowledge of data center reliability and redundancy architectures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior owner-side design and engineering leader for data center projects.
• Lead external AEC firms, MEP engineers, specialty consultants, and equipment manufacturers.
• Establish Basis of Design documents, OPRs, design criteria, and standards.
• Lead technical integration across electrical, mechanical, controls, and other systems.
• Lead design decisions on power, cooling, redundancy, scalability, and lifecycle performance.
