Job summary

Amgen, based in Thousand Oaks, seeks a Director of Data Acquisition and Governance to lead governance, vendor lifecycle, contracting coordination, and operational standards for commercial data assets. You will ensure assets are governed, documented, and supported by scalable processes while partnering across GCCI, Technology, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Procurement, Finance, and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Doctorate with 4+ years of data governance, vendor management, or data operations leadership.
• Masters with 8+ years in data governance, analytics, or data strategy and team leadership.
• Bachelor's with 10+ years in data governance or related field and people management.
• Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-functional partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Define and oversee compliant Commercial Data Governance and Acquisition operations, processes, standards, controls, and policies, with a focus on continuous improvement, scalability, risk management, and operational efficiency.
• Lead governance, contracting coordination, onboarding readiness, access planning, and operational transition for approved new data assets across functions.
• Provide governance input to Executives, Directors, and cross-functional partners related to data assets and governance.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate vendors, rationalize services, improve contracting efficiency, and reduce onboarding complexity.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Finance, and vendors to develop contracting and renewal strategies that optimize data spend and terms.
