Job description

Company Overview

Hybron is an advanced manufacturing company that is building lightweight composites at mass production scale. At Hybron, we have pioneered a new composites manufacturing process that enables complex, high performance composite parts to be produced 10-100 times faster than traditional manufacturing, at a fraction of the cost.

We recently closed an oversubscribed $25M seed round, are backed by the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator, and are rapidly growing to commercialize and mass produce composite products at a scale never seen before. Our current focus is applying our proprietary process to composite artillery shells, solid rocket motor nozzles, gas turbine engine components, and airframes.

If you want to join a rapidly growing company working on cutting edge composites technology while building capabilities for the warfighter and reshoring U.S. manufacturing, then we want to speak with you.

About the Role

This is a full-time, in-person role at our Hawthorne facility. As you will be working at an early-stage deep tech startup, this role will span many different tasks. You will need to be a self-starter and be adaptable to performing many different jobs. Along with these high expectations comes the opportunity to significantly influence the product development, strategy, and trajectory of a fast-growing startup company. Your work will tangibly impact our company and the composites industry, and you will be able to make rapid professional gains in an environment that encourages growth and innovation.

This role involves building the foundation of Hybron's corporate finance function. This includes owning financial planning and analysis (FP&A), managing accounting operations and the monthly close, building and maintaining budgets, tracking spend against plan, and establishing the financial controls and systems a scaling manufacturer needs. You will support the business development and capture team with pricing, contract terms negotiation, and unit economics. You will be responsible for ensuring that leadership has accurate, timely financial information to make decisions, and that Hybron's books are ready for the scrutiny that comes with government contracts, audits, and future fundraising.

Working in a high-growth company, you will be wearing many hats: budgeting and variance analysis, cash flow management, accounts payable and receivable oversight, payroll and equity administration coordination, government contract accounting and compliance, management of outside accountants and auditors, and communication of financial needs and constraints to engineering, operations, and leadership.

What We’re Looking For
  • Must be a US Person pursuant to the EAR and the ITAR definitions
  • Ability to work in-person at our facility in Hawthorne, CA.
  • 6+ years of experience in corporate finance, FP&A, or accounting, ideally within manufacturing, hardware, aerospace, or defense.
  • 2+ years of experience working at a small business (under 500 people) or startup.
  • Experience owning the monthly close process and producing accurate financial statements.
  • Experience building and managing company budgets, with a track record of variance analysis and spend control.
  • Experience with government contract accounting, including indirect rate structures and FAR-compliant cost accounting.
  • Strong financial modeling skills in Excel or similar tools.
  • Experience implementing or managing accounting systems and financial controls.
  • Ability to be agile and flexible with constantly changing requirements
  • Comfortable with uncertainty, with experience managing financial risk
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a drive to deliver on ambitious schedules, even and especially if unconventional & creative solutions are necessary to do so
  • Thrives in cross-functional organizations with strong communication and collaboration.
Nice to Have
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA
  • Experience setting up or maintaining DCAA-compliant accounting systems
  • Experience supporting venture-backed fundraising rounds (Seed through Series B or later)
  • Experience building three-statement and long-range financial models
  • Experience preparing board materials and presenting financials to investors
  • Experience with cap table management and equity administration
  • Experience with manufacturing cost accounting, including unit economics, COGS, and inventory
  • Experience with ERP implementation in a scaling manufacturing environment
  • Active security clearance (SECRET or TOP SECRET)
  • Demonstrated experience with growing a finance or accounting tea
