Job summary

Iowa PBS is seeking a visionary Director of Content to lead planning and development for local and statewide programming. This leadership role manages all broadcast and streaming content, ensuring our programming educates, informs, enriches, and inspires Iowans.

As a member of the leadership team under the direction of the General Manager, the Director of Content will oversee approximately 35 staff members and play a vital role in the organization’s strategic planning process.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include leadership in a management role.
• Experience guiding programming for broadcast and streaming.
• Strong editorial standards and collaboration with partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of local and statewide programming from concept to completion.
• Ensure editorial integrity across all Iowa PBS content and manage budgets.
• Collaborate with departments and partners to plan distribution across platforms.
• Supervise programming, production, master control, and operations staff.
• Foster community partnerships and align content with organizational strategy.
• Research best practices in audience research, evaluation, and trends.
• Engage with national network representatives to share insights.
