Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk seeks a Director of Research Operations to oversee the research program across our Hampton Roads locations. You will work with the Executive Director and Principal Investigators to shape strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive efficient, compliant clinical trials.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting skills, and deep knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines, with an emphasis on cross-site coordination and staff development.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in clinical research, preferably in oncology.
• Experience supervising research staff and leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of GCP and ICH guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets and financial reporting for multi-site programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of the research program with the Executive Director and Principal Investigators.
• Direct and evaluate research strategies across the clinical trial portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and ICH-GCP across all sites.
• Coordinate the research budget and financial reporting for all sites and locations.
• Collaborate with senior management to set accrual targets and financial objectives.
• Mentor staff and promote ongoing education in research practices.
