Job description

The Head of Business Data is the executive leader for the quality of Technology, Data & Operations (TD&O) data and for how that data is used across the business unit. This role carries end-to-end responsibility for TD&O data, from authoritative source through certification and lineage to consumption, including business data governance, data management, reporting, and analytics. This leader owns TD&O's adherence to the enterprise data governance policy: data ownership and accountability, business data stewardship, the inventory of data-critical business processes, critical data element identification and quality measurement, and the resolution of data issues and sub-issues. The role is accountable to governance requirements established by the Chief Data Governance Officer and partners with the Business Unit/Corporate Functions CDOs, the Chief Divisional Technology, Data, and Operations Officer, and division leaders to execute the business strategy in alignment with the enterprise data strategy. This is a critical role — TD&O's ability to run and modernize its operations depends on data the business unit can trust. The leader also directs TD&O's use of that data to deliver management insight into performance and operations, including an advanced and nimble analytics capability that turns TD&O data into rapid, decision-grade insight, and the innovation agenda that comes with it across analytics, data science, and modeling. Making TD&O data ready for AI and agentic use is central to the role: certified, well-governed data is the precondition for AI consumption, in adherence with all related data management and AI governance requirements. This is a senior leadership role. The Head of Business Data leads the TD&O data organization, including hiring, team development, delivery culture, and cross-functional execution, and represents TD&O in executive forums and senior committees, partnering, negotiating, and influencing across technology and business teams.

  2. Partner across C-Level executive business leaders to transform the business through cultivating data driven decision-making and enabling data analytics to re-engineer processes to grow and sustain the business.
  3. Coordinate with the Chief Data Governance Officer to align BU/CF roadmap to data governance priorities, roadmap, and risk/regulatory commitments.
  4. Provide regular updates to C-Level BU/CF executives and business unit committees regarding progress across key business initiatives and data risk in relation to appetite.
  5. Drive accountability within the BU/CF for data ownership and sound data management practices including partnering with business leaders to resolve open data issues and sub-issues.
