Job summary

Primary Venture Partners is seeking a Head of AI to help build an AI-native operating system that powers sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio support at scale. You will own the AI product roadmap, work with senior leaders to translate vision into actionable plans, and lead engineers and data teams across the firm.

You should have 7-10+ years building technical products, deep fluency with LLMs and retrieval systems, and a track record turning early-stage ideas into measurable value.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of experience building meaningful technical products or systems.
• Fluency with LLMs, agents, context/retrieval layers, evals, and the model landscape.
• Track record turning ambiguous opportunities into adopted products delivering measurable value.
• Strong product judgment with technical depth and user-focused insight.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to drive momentum in a venture firm.

Responsibilities

• Set vision and strategy with firm leadership and identify AI leverage opportunities.
• Own the roadmap for Primary's AI product surface and define success metrics.
• Build platform foundations: data layer and shared context for AI across the firm.
• Lead hands-on with prototypes or production work when necessary.
• Turn workflows into products by understanding investor and operator needs.
• Enable others to build by providing tools and standards for agents.
• Drive cross-functional cohesion across investing, portfolio impact, and operations.
• Lead the engineering and analytics team; recruit and cultivate talent.
• Communicate strategy and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
