Job summary

Physical Superintelligence in Boston is seeking a Head of Core AI to lead the team building models, agents, and training systems for physics discovery. This is an applied leadership role focused on shipping AI-for-physics capabilities at scale.

You will own the Core AI roadmap, set technical standards, review code, and partner with Applied AI and Engineering to turn research into products. A track record of leading AI teams and mentoring talent is essential.

Qualifications

• A track record of leading AI research teams that shipped results into production or fielded results.
• At least three years of direct people management: hiring, performance reviews, career development.
• Deep technical fluency in modern ML, reinforcement learning, agentic systems, large-scale training and evaluation.
• Publications or artifacts recognized by top ML venues or community.
• AI research judgment under commercial constraints: know when to ship and what to drop.

Responsibilities

• Lead Core AI: set roadmap and own AI research portfolio in service of physics discovery.
• Decide how agents acquire physical reasoning and how training infrastructure scales.
• Own training and evaluation infrastructure and ensure results translate to real physics.
• Stay technical: carry hands-on work, review code, and set the bar in person.
• Partner with Applied AI and Engineering to turn Core AI work into products and customer engagements.
• Hire and develop world-class talent, maintaining high standards as Core AI grows.
