Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Director of AI Engineering to lead scalable AI capabilities across drug discovery, clinical development, and manufacturing. You will drive production AI apps, design a centralized AI platform, and oversee MLOps in a regulated biopharma setting.

You will mentor teams, collaborate with clinical and scientific groups, and ensure compliance and security across AI systems, with monthly onsite presence in South San Francisco.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in computer science or related field.
• 8+ years in AI, machine learning, or software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience deploying AI in regulated environments.
• Demonstrated leadership in technical teams and platform development.

Responsibilities

• lead development of production AI applications including generative AI, semantic search, and document intelligence;
• design and optimize a centralized AI platform;
• oversee ML lifecycle, CI/CD, and MLOps practices;
• partner with clinical and scientific teams to automate workflows and enhance data use;
• ensure AI systems meet regulatory and security standards;
• mentor engineering teams, evaluate vendors and models, and contribute hands-on coding.
