Job summary

The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County in Sugar Land, Texas seeks a Director of Advancement to lead fundraising, communications, and community partnerships for adult education programs. This leadership role reports to the Executive Director and shapes the annual advancement plan while expanding revenue from major gifts, annual fund, corporate sponsors, and grants.

The successful candidate will build a strong donor pipeline, supervise grant writing, and oversee a marketing and communications

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fundraising, grant writing, or development experience.
• Proven success in securing five-figure and six-figure grants.
• Exceptional storytelling ability with metrics for funders.
• Mastery of donor management software and grant research databases.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or CFRE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead major donor portfolio and moves-management with Executive Director.
• Design targeted annual giving campaigns and appeals.
• Oversee grant pipeline, strategy, and compliance.
• Lead annual fundraising event strategy and sponsorships.
• Oversee external marketing and multilingual communications partner.
• Support the Executive Director and leadership team as needed.
