Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue is seeking a Head Nurse for the PACU to oversee nursing regimens in the Inpatient Coronary Care PACU. The role leads a dynamic team, ensuring effective patient care and continuous quality improvement.

You will supervise and evaluate nursing practices, coordinate with the health team, and guide staff development while maintaining high professional standards and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in acute care nursing or similar setting.
• Current NY RN license; BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience in inpatient PACU or comparable unit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing regimens for patients.
• Identify physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop and evaluate nursing plans for assigned patients.
• Record and maintain care plans and progress notes.
• Report patient responses to the health care team.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan care.
• Provide teaching and direction to allied nursing staff.
• Help define and maintain standards of nursing practice.
• Conduct conferences to develop care plans and staff development.
• Maintain professional competence through continuing education.

About This Role

The Head Nurse - PACU will oversee the nursing regimen for patients in the Inpatient Coronary Care PACU, ensuring effective care through supervision and evaluation of nursing practices. This role is ideal for experienced nursing professionals looking to lead and innovate in a dynamic healthcare environment.

• Schedule: Full-Time, Day (7:00 A.M. – 7:30 P.M.)

What You’ll Do

• Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing regimens for patients.
• Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate nursing regimens for assigned patients.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
• Interpret and report patient responses to appropriate health team members.
• Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan comprehensive patient care.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel.
• Participate in defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Conduct conferences to develop nursing care plans and promote staff development.
• Maintain professional competence through continuing education and learning experiences.

Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years in acute care nursing preferred
• Licenses & Certifications: Current RN License in New York; BLS certification required; ACLS preferred

Additional Compensation

• Annual education differential based on degree:
  • Bachelors in allied health discipline = $900
  • Masters in allied health discipline = $1,200
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) = $1,800
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) = $2,000
  • Doctorate in Education, Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing (DNP) = $2,500
• Annual certification differential ranging from $1,878 up to $4,878 for recognized certifications.
• Annual nursing experience differential ranging from $1,042 up to $8,645 for up to 10 years of experience as a Head Nurse.
