Head Night Custodian @ CDES ($38,826.52+)
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
  • Three written and verified references on file.
  • Three years minimum experience as a custodian in private industry or public services preferred for the assignment.
  • High school diploma and the ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports.
  • Ability to direct employees and organize a work schedule.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and the ability and willingness to physically respond to “after hours” alarms and emergency maintenance calls.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Plant Operations Supervisor

SUPERVISES: Custodians

JOB GOAL: To provide students, parents, and teachers with a safe, attractive, and comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and obtain an education.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans and maintains all areas of assigned responsibility including, sweeps, mops, wet-washes, and vacuums floors, dusts furniture, cleans and polishes fixtures, washes windows, scrubs and disinfects toilet rooms, assists in ice and snow removal. Lifts and carries items in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the safety, security and mechanical well being of the facility, including times when school is not in session. Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing, or electrical system, as soon as they are discovered.
  • Conducts inspection of doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Completes all preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Complies with local and state laws in the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
  • Attends safety, maintenance, and custodial meetings as requested by Principal, or Plant Operations Supervisor.
  • Takes charge of checking fire alarm system and assumes responsibility for the general fire safety and general security of the building.
  • Performs emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.
  • Keeps building clear of people not on official school business and assists law enforcement officers as directed by Principal.
  • Checks interior and exterior lighting.
  • Reports any violations of exterior parking rules and regulations.
  • Assists in the maintenance and care of the school grounds.
  • Directs assigned Custodians in their duties, instructs them and checks quality of their performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-exempt position. Twelve month work year.

SALARY SCALE: S25/01
