Job summary

Mennel Milling Company in Toledo, OH is seeking a Head Miller to lead the milling department, ensuring safe, efficient operations and high‑quality flour products that meet specifications. You will manage daily performance, coach staff, and drive continuous improvement across milling processes.

The role requires a hands‑on leader with strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑department collaboration, plus PCQI certification and respirator capability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in Milling Science or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a flour milling environment.
• PCQI certification required.
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and work while wearing a respirator.
• Strong leadership and team development experience.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related computer systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead milling operations to ensure safety, efficiency and product quality.
• Oversee day‑to‑day performance and develop the milling team.
• Drive continuous improvement in yield, extraction rates and capacity.
• Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
• Collaborate with Maintenance for repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, GFSI and BRC.
• Own finished flour quality, consistency and functionality.
• Promote safety, teamwork and operational excellence.
