Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking an energetic Head Basketball Coach at Freedom Middle to develop a competitive and representative varsity program for the 2026-27 school year.

The coach will oversee coaching staff, supervise practices and contests, emphasize academics, character, teamwork, and recruit and mentor student-athletes.

This is a contract position with a $1,691 monthly stipend; eligibility requirements include a high school diploma and coaching experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age and coaching experience in the sport assigned.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to enroll in training.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining high academic standards for all student-athletes.
• Directs, supervises, and evaluates regularly the performance of all Assistant Coaches.
• Directs the training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity athletic team and leads the Assistant Coaches.
• Oversees team activities at varsity contests and supports junior varsity and freshman events.
• Advises the Athletic Director in equipment, facilities, and personnel needs.
