Job description

Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach

Position Overview: The Head Track & Field Coach will oversee the daily management of a Division II men’s and women’s track and field program. Responsibilities include attending all sport-related activities, communicating regularly with student-athletes to support their academic and athletic growth, and serving as the program's representative within CSP Athletics. The coach will embody the mission and values of CSP, acting as a mentor and role model.

Essential Duties:

  1. Program administration: Attend staff meetings, assist with travel, scheduling, communicate with athletic administration, delegate duties, and manage budgets.
  2. Technical instruction: Oversee practices and games, logistics, drills, and game strategies.
  3. Fundraising: Lead sport-specific fundraising efforts.
  4. Recruiting: Manage recruiting activities, communicate with prospects, evaluate talent and academics, determine scholarship awards, and oversee social media strategies.
  5. Compliance: Adhere to NCAA, NSIC, and CSP rules, and pass the NCAA recruiting exam annually.
  6. Alumni Relations: Organize alumni activities related to the sport.
  7. CSP Relations: Maintain communication with CSP departments such as Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Admissions, and Athletic Administration.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Required
  • Master’s Degree: Preferred
  • Certification or Licensure: Required
  • CPR Certification: Required
  • Experience as a collegiate head or assistant coach, preferably in track and field
  • Strong communication, organizational, and delegation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Public speaking proficiency
  • Familiarity with budgeting

Physical Demands:

Position involves sitting, standing, walking, and physical movement, including long hours of standing and travel, primarily on buses.
