A leading golf destination in Florida is seeking a Head Mechanic to manage the equipment maintenance program. The ideal candidate will ensure high standards in turf care, overseeing repairs, training staff, and maintaining operational efficiency. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Head Mechanic to lead the equipment maintenance program and help us uphold the highest standards in turf care and golf course presentation.
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, and small engines
Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility
Diagnose mechanical issues and perform timely repairs
Order parts and maintain inventory of supplies and tools
Train and supervise staff on proper equipment use and daily care
Communicate with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure equipment is available for daily operations and special events
Reel Mower Expertise:
Proficient in grinding, adjusting, and maintaining reel mowers to meet PGA-level turf standards.
Turf Equipment Certification (Preferred):
Certifications from organizations like the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) or manufacturer training (Toro, John Deere, Jacobsen) are a plus.
Flexible Schedule:
Must be available for early mornings, occasional weekends, and tournament preparation periods.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ pounds, bend, crouch, and stand for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
Computer Literacy:
Experience with maintenance tracking software (e.g., Equipment Manager, Toro MyTurf) for record keeping and scheduling.
Safety Focus:
Must consistently follow OSHA safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment for all staff.
Driving Record:
Must maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
