Head Lifeguard - Hilliard YMCA (Security)

The Head Lifeguard promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by exemplifying cause-driven leadership and serving as a role model for staff and members. Responsibilities include:

1. Reporting in uniform at the start of scheduled shifts.
2. Maintaining active surveillance of the pool area and avoiding socializing while on duty.
3. Reviewing emergency procedures and responding promptly to emergencies following YMCA policies and the safe-in-six model, including completing required reports.
4. Building positive relationships with members, participants, and staff.
5. Applying safety rules and guidelines consistently and courteously, and enforcing them professionally.
6. Keeping accurate records as required by the YMCA and health authorities.
7. Performing equipment checks and reporting concerns about safety or functionality to the aquatics director or manager.
8. Checking for hazards upon arrival and reporting them immediately.
9. Clearing the pool during electrical storms or adverse weather conditions.
10. Securing pools when not guarded by locking doors and gates.
11. Performing chemical testing and taking appropriate actions when not guarding.
12. Attending staff meetings, training, and emergency drills.
13. Maintaining inventory and recommending supplies for the pool, first aid station, and concession stand.
14. Ensuring staff breaks and station rotations are followed.
15. Monitoring concession and gate proceeds, if applicable.
