Responsibilities

• Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of interscholastic sports.
• Is responsible for the behavior of the entire squad and coaching staff at all practice sessions and in all interscholastic games.
• a. Is responsible for the supervision and direction of the total program of his/her sport.
• b. Directs the work and assignment of his/her assistant coaches with the approval of the Athletic Administrator.
• c. Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants.
• d. Controls his/her behavior and that of his/her team at practice and games, since he/she is the person most instrumental in crowd control.
• e. Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies and procedures of the department and the OHSAA.
• f. Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory.
• g. Along with other coaches, is expected to cooperatively supervise the locker room and team area.
• h. Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials and visiting teams; officials and visiting teams should be shown to their dressing rooms.
• i. Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season— all jackets, sweaters, shoes, hats and other coaching staff equipment purchased by the athletic fund.
• j. Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator.
• k. Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving his/her team, at home or away, unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
• l. Keeps expenditures within the budget.
• m. Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and sports have on athletes; the head Coach must model conduct.
• n. Secures athletic scholarships for deserving seniors.
