• Cooperate to supervise locker room and team areas; stay at practice area as needed.
• Ensure athletes are not in unsupervised areas.
• Arrange storage for coaching staff equipment after the season ends.
• Attend all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator.
• Attend all interscholastic contests involving the team, home or away.
• Keep expenditures within the budget.
• Recognize the influence coaches have on young adults.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of interscholastic sports.
2. Is responsible for the behavior of the entire squad and coaching staff at all practice sessions and in all interscholastic games.
3. He/she also has these further duties:
   1. Is responsible for the supervision and direction of the total program of his/her sport.
   2. Directs the work and assignment of his/her assistant coaches with the approval of the Athletic Administrator.
   3. Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants.
   4. Controls his/her behavior and that of his/her team at practices and games, since he/she is the person most instrumental in crowd control.
   5. Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies and procedures of the department and the OHSAA.
   6. Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory. Equipment issued must be accounted for at the end of the season.
   7. Along with other coaches, is expected to cooperatively supervise the locker room and team area. Coaches are expected to be at their area of practice at all times and must be present in the locker room until all athletes have gone from the area. At no time are the athletes to be in an unsupervised area.
   8. Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials and visiting teams. Officials and visiting teams should be shown to their dressing rooms.
   9. Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season- all jackets, sweaters, shoes, hats and any other coaching staff equipment purchased by the athletic fund.
   10. Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator.
   11. Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving his/her team, at home or away, unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
   12. Keeps expenditures within the budget.
   13. Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and sports have on athletes. The head Coach must approach the task of coaching at all times with the thought in mind that what one says and does, both desirable and undesirable, has tremendous consequence upon the actions and reactions of the young adults.
4. Assists in the planning of special events such as assemblies, Homecoming, pep rallies, Booster Club programs, banquets, etc.
5. Serves as an advisor to the players on his/her squad to help them with problems.
6. Is interested and loyal to the school’s program. The coach is expected to support the entire program, encouraging athletes to participate in other sports, and to be an active participant in striving to improve the athletic program as well as the total educational program of the schools.
7. Performs other coaching-related duties as directed by the Principal or Athletic Administrator.
