Job description

The impact you will have: Groundskeepers maintain more than 40 properties across San José Unified, ensuring our grounds are beautiful, clean, and safe for our 30,000 students and 3,000 employees. Our Head Groundskeeper identifies and addresses San José Unified’s facility needs by providing training, mentorship, and support, as well as performing grounds duties at various sites. Who you are: You have prior experience performing skilled or semi-skilled maintenance work related to electrical or low-voltage service. You possess strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to efficiently coordinate, prioritize, and plan work for yourself and others. You communicate effectively and build positive relationships.

Who you are: As an experienced groundskeeper, you are detail-oriented, with excellent communication and time management skills, committed to customer service and safety. You work well independently and in a team, enjoy coaching and developing others, and apply best practices with a desire to continuously improve.

As a Lead Maintenance, you will assist with managing and performing duties related to:

  • Ground Maintenance and Upkeep
  • Irrigation & Equipment
  • Safety and Compliance
  • Inventory & Coordination
  • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment

What you need for this position:

  • Completion of 12th grade or equivalent education, experience, and training
  • California driver's license
  • California Class A driver's license
  • Forklift certification
  • Resume and Letter of Introduction outlining your desire and qualifications for this position
  • FMCSA Clearinghouse Registration at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/
