Job description

Harbour Pointe Golf Club is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Head Golf Professional. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service.

Key Responsibilities of the Head Golf Professional:
  1. Oversees golf operations including tournaments, rules, tee sheet activity, merchandise inventory, range operations, player service operations, cart fleet, and may assist with supervising other club operations.
  2. Assists in the development and day-to-day tracking of the budget and business plan. Helps to control expenses in relation to revenues.
  3. Creates a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the members. Ensures that associates provide a high level of customer service.
  4. Works closely with the Superintendent and the Food and Beverage Manager daily to ensure timely communication and establish a good working relationship.
  5. Prepares work schedules and assigns areas of responsibility to associates.
  6. Responsible for data capture/collection of golfing guests and potential customers utilizing Troon Rewards and/or other club-defined data collection processes.
  7. Performs payroll tasks as scheduled, makes adjustments prior to submitting to payroll, and monitors hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
  8. Provides leadership and vision to golf staff, building people and preparing them for career advancement.
  9. Provides golf instruction through lessons and clinics to members and guests.
  10. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  11. Manages department members, which may include Assistant and Associate Golf Professionals, Teaching Professionals, Tournament Coordinator, and Guest Services Attendants.
  12. Ensures effective orientation and training for new associates and develops ongoing training programs.
  13. Monitors business volume forecasts and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
  14. Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
  15. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  16. Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  17. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications:
  • Must be a PGA member.
  • Experience with computerized POS and tee time systems.
  • Experience with Golf Genius software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
