Head Girls Lacrosse Coach – Albemarle High School

Albemarle County Public Schools – Albemarle High School, Charlottesville, Virginia. Starting Date: Immediately.

Salary: Coaching Stipend.

Position Type: Part‑Time, Temporary.

Responsibilities:

• Coach and train girls lacrosse student‑athletes in skill development, strategy, and team management.
• Organize and conduct practice sessions, developing practice schedules and curricula.
• Lead team practices, game preparation, and gameplay, ensuring safety and sportsmanship.
• Maintain regular communication with players, parents, coaching staff, and administration.
• Travel with student‑athletes to and from matches and tournaments.
• Participate in regular meetings with coaching staff, school administrators, and parent clubs.

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience in girls lacrosse, at high school or college level.
• Strong knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations, girls lacrosse rules, strategy, player development, and team fundamentals.
• Leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop and train AA student‑athletes.
• Positive relations with student‑athletes, parents, and community.
• Ability to prepare practice schedules and enforce discipline emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Preference for candidates holding or eligible for a Virginia teaching license.

Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:

Duties performed in school settings including gym and recreation areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting. Daily personal contact with student‑athletes. Regular travel with student‑athletes to matches. Regular contact with coaches, administrators, parents, media.

All positions are part‑time and temporary.
