Job summary

Maverick Corporation is seeking a Head Fleet Mechanic to oversee diesel engines and vehicles across our heavy equipment fleet. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel systems to keep our fleet reliable and safe.

You will lead inspections, perform overhauls, manage work orders, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and record maintenance activities. CDL preferred; strong diagnostic and fleet software skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical program in diesel mechanics.
• 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and diesel repair equipment.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office.
• Familiarity with fleet management software and work orders.
• CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough inspections of diesel engines and vehicles to identify problems.
• Create and manage work orders; perform repairs and maintenance including overhauls, fuel system, brakes, and suspension work.
• Ensure repairs comply with safety, environmental, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Keep detailed records of repairs and parts used; update service logs and databases.
• Conduct tests and quality checks after repairs to meet safety and performance standards.

Summary

Maverick is seeking a Head Fleet Mechanic (“HFM”) to ensure the smooth & reliable operation of our fleet of diesel engines and vehicles. The HFM will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and vehicles, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. You will work with various heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment. Your expertise will be vital in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues as well as performing regular maintenance tasks to keep the diesel-powered vehicles in optimal working condition.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of diesel engines and vehicles to identify mechanical problems, worn-out parts, and potential performance issues.
• Identify the root causes of mechanical problems, such as engine malfunctions, brake issues, transmission problems, and electrical faults.
• Create work orders based upon self-inspection or driver reports. Perform repairs and scheduled maintenance tasks, including engine overhauls, fuel system repairs, brake replacements, suspension repairs, etc.
• Ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks comply with safety and environmental regulations, as well as manufacturer guidelines.
• Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used for each vehicle or equipment, updating service logs and computer databases as necessary.
• Conduct performance tests and quality checks after completing repairs or maintenance to verify that the vehicles meet safety and performance standards.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines when working on diesel engines and vehicles. Keep the workshop clean and organized for a safe working environment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients, providing updates on repair progress and advising on maintenance recommendations.
• Stay up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and attend training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills including MS Office.
• Familiarity with fleet management software including work orders creation, pm tracking, parts ordering, etc.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and sometimes in confined spaces.
• Possession of a valid driver's license required, CDL a plus.
• Successful completion of drug & alcohol and background check requirements.
