Position Summary

The Chief Engineer leads the maintenance department to ensure the entire hotel property—including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems—is safe, operational, and well-maintained. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages facility budgets, and leads the engineering team to uphold high physical standards and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Property Maintenance: Direct daily repairs, HVAC servicing, plumbing, electrical work, and regular preventive maintenance (PM) routines across guest rooms and common areas.
• Team Leadership: Hire, train, schedule, and manage engineering technicians; assign daily work orders and inspect completed tasks.
• Vendor & Budget Oversight: Manage third-party contractors (elevators, fire systems, landscaping), negotiate vendor contracts, track department expenses, and plan capital projects.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with local building codes, OSHA standards, fire safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Emergency Response: Act as the primary technical lead for power outages, plumbing leaks, HVAC failures, and emergency property protocols.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of hotel or commercial building maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Technical Certifications: Professional certifications in HVAC (e.g., EPA/CFC), electrical, plumbing, or facility management preferred.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of building management systems (BMS), MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, budgeting, and project management.
• Availability: Flexible schedule required, including availability on short notice for facility emergencies.
