Position: Day Camp Counselor

Location/Dept.: Corps

Availability: June 20, 2025– August 15, 2025

Schedule: M-F, 8:00AM - 5:30PM

Reporting Relationship: Child Care Coordinator, Assistant Child Care Coordinator, Music Ministry Assistant, Head Counselors

Salary: $13.50 per hour

Responsibilities

Position Description: Provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Summer Day Camp program. Counselors are responsible for leading children in assigned activities and implementing procedures.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Prepare weekly activity schedules, gather supplies, and be ready to teach and engage children during Counselor Directed Activity times.
• Lead children through activities with enthusiasm, including organized activities, theme activities, devotions, etc.
• Consistently adhere to procedures for child release to parents or guardians.
• Enforce rules for behavior and maintain a safe, fun environment for all campers.
• Build positive relationships with staff, guests, children, and parents/guardians.
• Work collaboratively with the team and communicate daily with the Child Care Coordinator regarding program concerns.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the facility and property, including completing daily clean-up tasks.
• Model dignity and respect, actively participate, and encourage children in activities.
• Ensure property and rules are respected and followed.
• Complete The Salvation Army KeepSAfe training and adhere to all guidelines.
• Support the mission of The Salvation Army during service.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Must be 21+ years old with experience working with children.
• Be reliable and responsible.
• Work schedule flexible to meet staffing needs.
• Possess a valid PA Driver's License with ability to drive a 12-passenger van.
• Complete mandated reporter training within 30 days of employment and recertify every five years.
• Complete child protection clearances as required by PA law.
• Understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
